What is CrossFit/Getting Started


CrossFit Colby is a health and fitness community that offers group and individual sessions, where the coaching, training and programming is centered on the CrossFit philosophy and methodology. Our focus is on nutrition and workouts. What you put into your body is the key element to what your body is capable. Our workouts are constantly varied, functionally executed at high intensity and scalable to your fitness level. Constantly varied means every day you’ll tackle a new or different workout. Functional movements are the normal movements your body goes through in life like running, lifting, squatting, shoving and pulling. We want to build your intensity level while making sure the workouts you are doing are manageable based on your individual capabilities.

Our workouts are designed to prepare you for any of life’s actual physical demands. We understand that those demands include helping a friend move or shoveling the snow. That’s why you’ll have workouts that involve throwing and jumping or lifting and running. That’s also why you won’t find weight machines and sections of elliptical machines and treadmills. What you will see is space to run, jump, squat and lift. The equipment you’ll find are pull-up bars, weighted balls, kettle bells and barbells.

We do NOT specialize in any sport or activity nor do we take the place of specialized athletic sports programming, because life does not demand only one type of activity or movement. Our fitness programming does not concentrate only on running endurance or only on power and strength. We constantly vary our workouts to give you a better overall fitness so that you have increased capability of a broader range of movements and activities. More specifically, our programming develops and improves your body’s physical ability across ten standards of fitness: cardio/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, balance, coordination and accuracy. This leaves you better prepared for anything physical that life throws at you, including sport and recreation activity.

How to get started

If you are interested in joining CrossFit Colby, we encourage you to talk with any one of our committed members.  We offer various opportunities throughout the year to try regular classes through Buddy Week or give our IGNITE boot camp program a try for 6 weeks.  If you  are interested in signing up, simply message us on Facebook, email us at contact@crossfitcolby,com, text/call Heather 620-290-6824 or stop by the gym at 200 N Franklin.
